67 year old David Bahnson, a retired surgeon, realized that he could modify his kayak to accommodate a pooch after knowing how easily his golden dog, Susie, could fit inside the baggage compartment. He wanted to gather his love for kayaking and his dog. After Bahnson and his wife got another golden dog, Ginger, they knew exactly what to do.
Bahnson told Dodo, “When we got Ginger, I just put in another hole, It’s like a triple kayak, only there isn’t enough room for the paddlers to put their feet — but it’s perfect for a dog… They never hopped out into the water, actually.”
He realized that there was not enough space for both dogs, he decided to modify his kayak again and created a third seat for his new golden dog. Bahnson said that their dogs have always loved to travel with him and his wife in cars, in airplane and in boats. It was fun in both levels; first, building boats is interesting in itself and second, that was a logical choice and practical way to accompany the two dogs.
Bahnson told Dodo, "We've gone miles and miles of padding with our dogs, they seem to love it. Susie and Ginger get excited when we would pull the kayaks out and see that we were going".
Now Bahnson and his both dogs can take kayak adventures together and the furry first mates can make sure David and his dogs stay safe.
It was an interesting idea that David first thought to combine between his kayak adventure love and his dogs love. Accompanying our pets in our hobbies is very exciting, the shared moments are irreplaceable. Personally, I think Susie and Ginger have spent so much fun in kayaking with their owner.
