This is Smurf, a poor little kitten whose coat was dyed purple and thrown to dogs as bait. He was tortured, beaten, burned and abused. Smurf's little body was covered in bite marks, burns and other severe injuries.
The terrified little kitten, only two months old, was brought to San Jose animal shelter in California this week. Poor Smurf was used as live bait in dog fights organised to amuse cruel spectators.
The shelter didn't euthanize him and instead they called the Nine Lives Foundation. They wanted to offer this little survivor another chance at life and happiness, they wanted to do anything to put him out of his misery without taking his life! The organization, run by Monica Ruudiger, a vet, welcomed the idea to help Smurf and to take action immediately.
Smurf's injuries were famous signs of violent practice against cats by involving them in dog fights and considering them as live bait. Poor Smurf was extremely terrified; his reactions towards the vets and volunteers showed much of his pain and suffering, but the little guy's spirits overcame this struggling.
His whole fur was completely dyed in purple and even though he was shaved, his skin still had a blue tint.
Smurf possesses a strong spirit that helps him along with his rapid recovery. It's like he knows he deserves the very best. It is hard to predict how his journey will end. The people responsible for his suffering are being tracked and hopefully found. We hope they will be charged for this disgusting act they call business.
Share Smurf's story with your family and friends if you believe he has strong spirits!
