On Sunday afternoon, representatives from County Kerry, Ireland-based
Animal Heaven Animal Rescue (AHAR) ">posted a plea for "a boat and men to help" on their Facebook page after receiving a call that a donkey was stranded in rising floodwaters . He was endangered to a certain death. The good people responded to the organization's post.
The mule, Mike, left his paddock after the gates were open by
Storm Desmond which blew the country over the weekend. Unaware, he walked straight into the River Laune where the rising flood waters were just outside Killorglin.
After posting the plea post, some good people responded immediately to the organization and came to help.
After a desperate search and a long period of time, they found Mike, flailing the water where his head was barely above the surface of the water. The team managed to pull Mike to the shore with using powerful force to fight the water. Back on the shore, the donkey, Mike, was taken to have a well deserved rest after what he has been through.
After a while, Mike showed gratitude to his rescuers with an amazing smile from his heart. Mike, was named after his rescuer and he was taken to the
Animal Heaven Animal Rescue (AHAR) where he was treated from his ordeal.
"He is now dried with towels, eating a hot mash, all cozy and warm and our vet has seen him and started him on antibiotics to prevent pneumonia. He has a small bit of fluid in one lung but our vet said he will recover. All he needs is loads of TLC," the Organization posted this status on their Facebook page.
