SUDBURY, ONTARIO – Two Canadians brothers rescued a bald eagle from a trap and before setting it free they seize the once in a life chance to take a selfie with it . The brothers from Sudbury, Ontario, became Internet celebrities this week after they rescued a bald eagle from a trap over the weekend and set it free, but only after snapping
a once-in-a-lifetime selfie with the giant eagle. Their selfie with the bird has gone so viral!
The brothers Michael and Neil Fletcher in their 20s, said they went hunting grouse when they spotted the national bird of the country to the south, with one of its talons caught in a trap placed by fur trappers, CBC News reports. The two were out hunting when they stumbled across a bald eagle stuck in a trap.
The eagle was caught by the talon and was calm by the time the brothers found it. They think it was tired and exhausted from fighting the trap. Michael Fletcher took his coat off and got closer to the bird. He was able to wrap the raptor and free the bird. Neil recorded the whole story.
"It was relieving to see that it was still alive," Neil Fletcher told CBC. "I knew we had to do something right away," he said.
His brother took off his jacket and cloaked it over the bird. And the bird remained calm and still through the process. The two brothers worked quickly to untangle its foot from the hunting trap.
Michael uploaded
a video of the rescue on his own Facebook account earlier this week. “Everybody thinks it’s like the
selfie of the year,” Michael told Buzzfeed Canada.
