The whole story took place when a police helicopter revealed how faithful and loyal a dog can be!
Pensioner Martin Kay, 67, was stuck in muddy bog when he was out for a walk. He became trapped in a bog after straying into the mud while on a walk in Thornham Magna, Suffolk, with his black Labrador
Holly Blue.
He started to shout asking for help but sooner he realized he was stuck and no one would hear his desperate cries. He didn't have anyone with him but his black Labrador
Holly Blue who refused to leave her owner's side.
The faithful dog was spotted sitting next to her owner's side more than seven hours. She was standing by his side as the darkness fell around them.
Meanwhile, a friend was worried about Martin who has been missing for too long. He went to his house and saw that Martin was not there, five hours later he realized his friend was missing. At 7.30 p.m. he notified the police, who with his friends and neighbors started to look for Martin. They started from the beginning of his walking route. The police helicopter, based at a nearby Wattisham, was called and managed to locate the missing friend and his dog at around 9 pm.
Thermal cameras on the helicopter showed Martin lying down in the darkness with his dog curled up nearby, illuminated by their body heat.
He wasn't badly hurt and later he published a message thanking everyone.
Pensioner Martin said: "It is marvelous to meet them and personally thank them for saving my life, I don't remember much about the rescue - the last thing I remember was that it was getting dark and then the next thing I woke up in hospital. I hadn't walked that route for about two years and when I came across the mud, I tested the ground at the side and it felt firm, but as I walked into the middle the ground began to sink. I called for help but nobody heard me and eventually I drifted off. I wasn't optimistic about being found, but I wasn't panicking - it was too cold for that!"
