Part of the celebrations on World Animal Day is to familiarize people with the problems animals face on daily basis. Sadly, there are a lot of species who are close to extinction. In this article, we will introduce you to some animal species who you have never seen before. Some unfortunately have gone extinct so you will only see them in photos.
1-Pinta Island Tortoise:
This specie of tortoise was buried in sands years ago, the last one died on 24 June 2012, after he lived for about a century. His accurate age was unknown, and the tortoise was living in Ecuador. It did not have children, so this species went extinct during our time.
2-Golden Toad
Just look at the brightness of the skin; this is the Monteverde Toad, and sometimes it is called the Orange Toad. This toad was seen last in 1989, but humans were the main reason that this toad vanished from the face of the earth. They lost their natural habitat due to new buildings of urban cities. Pollution also played a big part in their extinction.
3-Canarian Oystercatcher
This specie of birds lived in the west of Africa. Unfortunately they are already extinct due to the decrease of their food resources. They were reported extinct in 1994.
4-Javan Tiger
This specie of tigers went extinct in 1970. Scientists announced that the Javan tiger looks a lot like the like the now existing tigers, which also a specie near extinction.
5-Baiji Dolphin
Once upon a time in the ocean, there were about 6000 Baiji dolphins. But since 2002, scientists haven't record any appearances, so, sadly, the species were reported extinct, too.
6-Liverpool Pigeon
Another species that is in danger of extinction is the Liverpool Pigeon. As humans continue to damage the earth we live on, this species is declining significantly in numbers. The Liverpool Pigeon will go extinct as there is only a small number of them left.
7-Mexican Grizzly Bear
The reason this bear is extinct is simple; humans refused to stop hunting them. When the authorities managed to enforce the law in 1960, unfortunately it was already too late. By 1964 they were all officially extinct.
